September was a busy month with birthdays and family visits. Justin came to visit for a long weekend from August 29th through September 2nd and we played golf just about every day at the country club. I have been taking lessons and getting much worse rather than better. We had fun though and the weather was perfect. We ate out and relaxed and had a good time. Justin brought down an Italian Deluxe pizza from Zappitelli’s and I ate it the following weekend.
Speaking of the following weekend – it was Labor Day weekend and Suzanne came to visit us because that Monday, Labor Day, was also Melissa’s 38th birthday. I offered to make a cake as I have a few times in the past but Melissa wanted to make the cake with a few additional ingredients and made her own cake instead. The kids arranged her candles into a group of 3 and a group of 8 for 38 and made them into the shape of a smile.
Suzanne babysat the kids and Melissa and I were able to go out to eat at Napa River Grill for her birthday. We both had a great meal. The sun was oozing around the restaurant windows blinds as it was getting close to dusk. We took the long way home and played Trivial Pursuit with Suzanne when we got back.
On September 21st was Kayleigh’s 6th birthday. By the end of September we started to have strep throat, flu and some variety of virus work their way through the family. We had to postpone Kayleigh’s birthday party because we didn’t want her to get all her friends sick and because we wanted her to be well and to enjoy it. Kayleigh didn’t mind the postponement much because she got a cake on her actual birthday and a cake for her birthday party. She also got to open presents twice which she found quite agreeable. The weekend following her birthday we took Kayleigh and her friends to “Build A Bear” where they all picked-out teddy bears or some other stuffed animal and then proceeded to stuff them and dress them and otherwise individualize them at great expense. It was fun and the girls all seemed to get a hoot out of it.
