While I was biking around the southeast U.S., Melissa and the kids took the opportunity to drive up to Cleveland to visit with Glenn and Suzanne and to have some fun of their own. I wasn’t there, but judging by the photos of one of their meals I missed out on some good food. Everyone went to the Great Lakes Science Center and checked-out all the exhibits. It looks like an interactive place that is perfect for children. My understanding is that it is located right on Lake Erie next to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In the accompanying slideshow we have some shots of the lake from the Science Center and where it sits in relation to the Hall of Fame.

Glenn and Melissa also took the kids aboard a submarine called the U.S.S. Cod that is nearby and open for tours. We have some pictures inside and outside the sub. It is remarkable how cramped it is and makes you appreciate the sacrifices to claustrophobia that must be made to have lived on one of those old subs.

The kids did a run with Papa (Sunday run I think). They also shot some fireworks and it looks like some other children in the neighborhood joined-in for the fun.

On June 20th I took a bike trip to Orlando for Cisco’s Networkers conference. I rode through the Smokie Mountains (again) but this time went around the east side of the national park and hit Asheville, NC and Spartanburg, SC. I slept in Spartanburg the first night of the trip and went on to Savannah for the second night. Savannah was great and I walked around and bought some trinkets for the kids and had a great meal. There were storms off-and-on during the 3 days I rode down so it put a damper on my ability to take pictures, but the rain wasn’t all bad as it cooled things off a bit during what would normally be mid-90-degree weather.

Melissa took some excellent pictures of the girls (and a couple of James too) in the back yard.

Melissa and the kids spoiled me for Father’s Day as usual. I got up early and played golf in a league I have been playing lately. When I got home I was fed well and showered with gifts. The kids made me a new butt because I am always commenting on how mine is broken and has a crack in it. Yes, I am responsible for the low-brow humor of the Macumber household.

James graduated from Elementary School and is now moving on to 6th grade at Oldham County Middle School. Buckner Elementary had a “graduation ceremony” and James received a Gold President’s Academic Achievement award. We made him wear a jacket and tie and he took it like the little man that he is. I thought he looked great and he seemed to have a nice time. We were pretty proud that he received the award and that he is regarded by his teachers as being a “good boy”.

In other news, I was able to attend Founder’s Day in Akron, Ohio again this year. Justin was able to get the weekend off from work and we had a good time. I rode the beemer up there on a hot 94 degree day and my face hit a bee at about 80mph. My eye was pretty much swollen shut by Friday when I woke-up. Regardless, Justin and I ate like warriors every meal. We had a wonderful round of golf at Valley View Golf Course on Saturday. We attended a killer meeting in the hospital which houses Ignatia Hall and we attended the worldwide meeting at the University of Akron. We also managed a little swimming-pool time. The ride home was sweet. The Akron/Cuyahoga Falls area is a great place to spend a long weekend and it was good to hang-out with my brother and do guy stuff. More pictures here.
