We spent the week of Fall Break in Destin, FL. A few months ago Melissa mentioned that the kids had never seen the ocean. To be honest, I had not realized that until she pointed it out. Having spent a lot of time around the Gulf of Mexico growing up it seemed like as good a place as any to take the kids for their first mouthfuls of salt water. Many people in suburban Louisville recommended Destin, Fl as a good spot for families, so we secured accommodations and drove the 700 miles down to check it out.

We had rain on Monday and Tuesday and then it cleared up on Wednesday, but the temperature dropped about 10 degrees. In short, it was not the best beach weather. We did have a heated swimming pool at the resort and we did still get to spend some time on the beach and in the ocean. We also ate quite well and did some shopping. I was able to finish a book that my uncle recommended and did some motorcycle research I had been wanting to do (no reading for work!). We all slept in and lounged around and just did what we felt like doing. So even though the weather did not cooperate, I think everyone still had a great time and I think that we were all very blessed to be able to get away as a family for Fall Break. I shot quite a few photos in addition to the ones above.

Kayleigh’s Kindergarten class took a field trip to Gall Rein Farms in Shelbyville and Melissa went along to help out the teacher, along with a few other mothers. I was not able to go but Melissa took some pictures with our new camera and it looks like the girls had a good time picking out pumpkins, playing in the hay and feeding the animals.
